I can’t remember how I first “met” Keri Ford. I think I found her through Twitter first, then picked up “On the Fence.” It doesn’t matter, though: Between her sometimes hilarious tweets and engaging, steamy stories, I’m hooked.
That’s why, when Keri was looking for stops to add to her Roughnecks Blog Tour, my virtual hand shot high in the air.
Welcome to Love & Laughter, Keri. I’m honored to have you be my first guest blogger. Take it away.
Arlene, thank you so much for letting me crash at your place today! I’m excited to tell everyone a little about Lane and Gretchen from my latest release, Rough Ride.
If you could take a classic soccer type mom who had no children, that would be Gretchen. She’s down home. She keeps a tidy house, she keeps a tidy yard. She loves to bake and cook. She’s there for her friends when they need her. Even her best friend admits that if she were a lesbian, she’d be all over Gretchen because she is one awesometastic gal. She’s by no means perfect, but when it comes to that down-home, southern lady, you can’t find a better description than Gretchen.
And Lane sees this in her. And he WANTS. Boy does he want. But Lane isn’t staying in town. So the idea of getting a fling going with this very obvious roots woman and then leaving the small town behind where his brother will be living? Yeah…not such a great idea.
As Lane is tempted by Gretchen, he constantly has to remind himself of the sweet kind of person she is. I mean, she even makes homemade pine cone bird feeders! So today, I’ve got a treat for you.
An instructional video on pine cone bird feeders. This was my first attempt at this and I realized something quickly—I am so not cool with sharing my peanut butter with a bunch of birds who just poop all over my car. I scarified. This time. They better not get used to it.
(Note from Arlene: My techno-challenged self can’t get the embedded video to work here. The link above should take you right to it, though.)
What was the last craft project you did? Leave me a comment and the winner will get their pick from my good friend and Inspirational Author, Winnie Griggs! Print Book and open internationally! Thank you Winnie so much for donating! See more about Winnie at her website http://winniegriggs.com/books.html Facebook http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=821533857

Blurb for “Rough Ride”
You do for family, no matter what. Lane Iverson knows that better than anyone. Harboring a secret about his mother’s death, Lane is counting the days until he finishes helping his brothers with some work and can head back to his hiding hole hours away. As long as he doesn’t have to face his three brothers every day, the guilt is easier to carry.
There is only one thing that can risk his plan. All of five foot tall with these deep eyes and a voice that shudders through him. The completely addicting, Gretchen Jones. She’s been watching him the entire time he’s been in town. With courage from her friends behind her, she confronts what she wants. To her surprise, that’s the easy part. Keeping her heart protected when she knows he’ll be leaving? Not so easy, but her only choice.

I loved the video! Very cute.
Last craft project. Well, I’m a knitter. The last project I completed were hand-knit socks. I even took pictures of the socks in progress and posted them on my blog.
Craft? What’s that? Unless you count the time I helped my son construct a teepee for a school project. That’s good, right? That counts?
(Welcome, Keri!)
I’m not a very “crafty” person either. I admire people who are. I used to sew (mostly costumes for my kids for school functions), but even that has fallen by the wayside.
I used to be much craftier myself, before writing started gobbling all my free time. I loved to crochet and do counted cross stitch.
Ashlyn, I’m jealous! I would love love love to knit! I’ve tried so many times, but my wrists just can’t handle the constant motion. After just a day or two and wrists ache so bad I can’t use them.
LOL Abigail (I’m writing a character with that name right now and for the life of me I can’t remember which project it is!). A teepee? that SO COUNTS in my book!
Liese, sewing is something else I would love to do. Actually, my grandma’s sewing machine is about 4 feet away from me, but I just don’t have the patience for it plus I really don’t know what I’m doing in terms of different foots and tension and yeah…I’m a totally failure on the sewing machine. If I had a girl instead of a boy, I think I probably would have learned a thing two for some cute and easy dresses!
Ha, I’m hopeless at crafts, but I have made those peanut butter pine cones, and you aren’t kidding about your car! The best little craft gift I made was a yard stick covered in cute material, with matching clothes pins. You hang them up on your wall, and it holds all your notes! Sexy story, Keri, I’m jealous of Gretchen! And want to meet Lane! And Arlene, I adored meeting Keri. She’s funny and bubbly in person just as much as she is on Twitter!
That yardstick note holder sounds like a great idea. If I ever organize my home office … Keri is great, isn’t she? Thanks for dropping by.
My mom taught us girls how to sew, crochet, knit, cross-stitch, embroidery, metal punch, you name it, we learned it. I’m happy to have the skills, but boy do I hate doing crafts, lol. Love the cover, BTW! Hot!!
aw, Donnell–thank you! And what a great idea with the yard stick! I currently just have notes taped on my walls. *keeping it classy*
LOL Jennifer–that is true. I would love the skill, but crafts can be so tiresome and involved!
and thanks! publisher did an amazing job there!
I don’t do crafts. I would love one of Winne’s books.
I am not all that crafty but I do enjoy doing things with my son and the last crafty project I did was with him,we made paintings together and off course his was much better than mine.
Thank you so much for the lovely post and the givewaway.
Angela–often times I wish I wasn’t a wanna-be crafter. I get ideas in my head that I can do something super cool. it ends up in a failure! Thanks for stopping by–Winnie is fantastic!
Desere–I think that’s the best part. My son can be slow to get into some of the things we do, but once we get going, he always loves it. makes it worth it!
My last craft project was a crocheted afghan….Now I am working on one for my daughter.Would love to win one of these books.Thanks..
So cool, Jackie! love love afghans! they’re the perfect over the back of the couch blanket!
Good for you, Jackie. I bought the yarn to crochet an afghan for my niece, but didn’t get around to it. (She turned 1 in April.)
I don’t really do craft projects. Nice video.
hi b100– crafts can be a real pickle. fix me up with a hot glue gun and I can turn out the finest looking craft project that no 2yr old could possibly beat!
Thanks everyone for stopping by!
